  • INTRODUCTION
  • The CGS-8PCIL is a PCI-based serial expansion add-in card to provide a connectivity solution for today¡¦s PC systems. It provides 8 ultra-high performance 16C950 UARTs. It provides 2 DB44-Female connectors to fit the standard low profile PCI form factor. The 16C950 UART is the fasted available PC-compatible UART, offering data rate up to 15Mbps and 128-byte deep transmitter and receiver FIFOs. The deep FIFOs reduce CPU overhead and allow utilization of higher data rates. Each UART channel is software compatible with widely used industry-standard 16C550 devices and compatibles. In addition to increased performance and FIFO size, the UARTs also provide the full set of advanced features including automated in-band flow control, readable FIFO levels, etc. With its complete hardware and strong OS support, the CGS-8PCIL is an ideal upgrade to support all UART-compatible devices for the rapidly changing desktop computer to preserve user¡¦s investment in serial interface.
