Disconnect ALL FireWire devices except the board to be updated. Only update one board at a time. Download and unzip configuration editor and firmware update. Also disable virus protection during the operation to avoid conflicts since the software can interfere with the process. Also Initio chip based boards will require a hard drive to be properly connected to the board in order to identify the board in the configuration utility.
Execute the Firmware Configuration Utility. The version of current firmware will appear at the end of the string.
Click “Download Firmware” and locate the firmware file downloaded. Highlight the file and click “open”.


A warning screen will appear showing the old and new version of the firmware. Click “OK” to load firmware. DO NOT INTERUPT PROCESS WHILE UPLOADING NEW FIRMWARE. This will destroy the bridgeboard and void warranty.
Once download is complete, disconnect cable from device and turn off enclosure
Reconnect and turn on enclosure. Verify that the new version of the firmware is loaded. The version number will appear at the end of the string. Click “Configuration Editor” to change settings for the board.
Do not change settings on this page. Click “Advanced” to adjust Master and Slave I/O mode.
Verify PIO, DMA and UDMA are set as shown above. Startup time is recommended to be set at two seconds. Older hard drives (3 years or older) may need a longer startup time.




To setup the Raid option click “Raid Config…”. Select “RAID Type” from the dropdown menu.
Select number of drives to be raided. Mirror will only support two drives. Select from the device order menu the drives to be raided. And click “OK”.
Click “Apply Changes” to load new configuration. Restart your virus protection to avoid infections.
