Quad bay with removable tray and keys in the tray locks
Quad Bay enclosure with removable trays and keys for locking and unlocking the tray position.
Remove the removable tray from its bay by turning its corresponding lock key to the unlock position, carefully lift the tray handle and slide the HDD tray out from the bay. This disconnects the tray’s IDE and power receptacles from the bay unit.

Note: The tray key locks are shipped by default in the unlocked position. Turning the key to the right will lock the removable tray in it corresponding bay. DO NOT lift the tray handle without verifying the key is in the unlock position.

Setting your jumpers on the HDD:

NOTE: Western Digital hard drive specific Master single or Master with slave configurations are available on your HDD, select the appropriate configuration by positioning the jumpers on the proper jumper pins using your hard drives jumper schematic.

Connect the HDD power to the power plug in the removable tray. Connect the IDE receptacle from the tray into the HDD by sliding the HDD flatly against the bottom of the tray into the IDE connector (do not try to angle the HDD into the IDE connector of the removable tray as it could bend and damage the IDE connector pins on the HDD). Use the mounting screws included to secure the HDD to the tray by turning the tray over and assembling the screws to the HDD mounting holes with the Philips head screw driver.

Note: DO NOT use the cable select configuration option on the hard drive when installing it into the removable tray.

"Daisy Chaining" your equipment

The image to the left shows a typical daisy chain configuration between multiple bay Firewire 400 enclosures or singularly and to a PC. Notice the A,B,C,D positions on the multi-bay enclosures. A to B connections are on the same multi-bay enclosure but connected to separate 2 port control boards within the bay. The configuration is flexible in that either of the ports on either control cards can be used as long as the connections stay separate. In other words, DO NOT connect the daisy chain cable into the same card ports.

Cable C to D (running between the two bays) in the image on the left can go to either a PC or another single or multiple bay enclosure. The cable is connected at one end to one of the available ports on the multi-bay enclosure and runs to the available port on next piece of equipment.
