USB 2.0 & FireWire (IEEE 1394) to IDE (ATA/ATAPI) Bridge Board
INTRODUCTION
U2FW-IDE12 is an USB 2.0 & FireWire (IEEE 1394) to IDE (ATA/ATAPI) bridge board featuring:
1). FireWire (IEEE 1394a): IEEE 1394a to IDE Bridge Controller (Oxford OXFW911 plus).
2). USB 2.0: USB 2.0 to IDE Bridge Controller (ALi M5621).
U2FW-IDE12 is suitable for tailgating interface applications for removable-media drives
CD-ROM, CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-ROM, DVD-RAM, tape drive, and hard disk drive.
It allows two IDE drives (Master and Slave) to be connected to USB 2.0 or FireWire (IEEE 1394) serial bus in a plug-and-play fashion. U2FW-IDE12 allows users to easily hot-swap IDE drive without interrupting the current operation. U2FW-IDE12 provides the perfect solution for data backup and transfering of data between computers
using IDE (ATA/ATAPI) devices.
USB 2.0 & FireWire (IEEE 1394) to IDE (ATA) Bridge Board:
USB 2.0 and FireWire (IEEE 1394) arbitration: Auto-Switch by detecting USB bus power.
IDE (ATA/ATAPI) Interface: Male IDC 2X20 Connector
Both ATA and ATAPI devices are supported using the same firmware.
USB 2.0 Interface: One USB mini B-Type connector
USB Bus Transfer Rate: High Speed (480 Mbit) or Full Speed (12 Mbit)
USB Bus Power: Self Powered Mode Operation
FireWire ports: External X 2 (FW-6pin)
1394a PHY: Ti's TSB41AB2 1394a-2000 400Mbps PHY
1394 Bus Transfer Rate: 100/200/400 Mbps
Power indicator LED and HDD Access LED
USB 2.0 to ATA Native Bridge Controller: ALi M5621
Complies with T13's ATA/ATAPI-6 Draft Specification:
- PIO Mode 0 ~ 4
- Multiword DMA Mode 0 ~ 2
- Ultra DMA Mode 0 ~ 4
- Supports 48-bit addressing for large hard drives (>128GB).

HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS
Desktop PC: with either a built-in FireWire (IEEE-1394) controller or a FireWire (IEEE-1394) to PCI Host Adapter equipped with a external FireWire (IEEE 1394) port.
Desktop PC: with either a built-in USB (1.0 or 2.0) controller or a USB (1.0 or 2.0) to PCI Host Adapter equipped with a external USB port.
Laptop PC: with either a built-in FireWire (IEEE-1394) controller or a FireWire (IEEE-1394) to CardBus PC Card equipped with a external FireWire (IEEE 1394) port.
Laptop PC: with either a built-in USB (1.0 or 2.0) controller or a USB (1.0 or 2.0) to CardBus PC Card equipped with a external USB port.
